A coach's-eye guide to the cards worth chasing โ and the ones everyone sleeps on.
I spent years building rosters for a living, so I can't help approaching this game like a real draft: chase the ceiling, but don't ignore your floor. Here are the picks I'd grab on sight, and the value most people walk past. (All ratings are subjective and get tuned over time โ if you disagree, that's what the ๐ฉ button is for.)
If one of these spins up in Standard mode, take them and don't look back:
Gauntlet rewards the right player in the right format, not the biggest name:
Two slots make up a real chunk of your score and get drafted lazily:
This is the one most people get wrong. You draft the player, not the team around them โ so a weak, forgettable roster can still hand you an elite card. Don't reflex-reroll a team you don't recognise. Watch for:
Those cards score exactly the same as they would on a superteam. Knowing them is a real edge in Hard mode, where ratings are hidden and you're drafting on names alone.
Beyond raw score, the cards I'd most want in the Collection Log are the shinies โ rare holo versions tied to iconic moments. zen, jstn., M0nkey M00n, kuxir97, Kronovi, Firstkiller and Fairy Peak! are the headline chases. They boost your ratings and they're the trophies of the binder.
Because your score is an average across all six picks, the win isn't three superstars โ it's not having a weak link. A balanced 92-across-the-board roster beats two 99s dragging a 78 sub and a 70 coach. Draft like a coach: raise the floor, then chase the ceiling.
