How to Play RLCS Draft

The goal

Draft a full roster of real RLCS players — three starters, a substitute, a coach and an organisation (the fanbase). Your picks give the roster a score out of 99. A strong roster then plays a simulated tournament: win series, sweep opponents, and try to lift the Worlds trophy.

How a draft works

1. Each slot spins a random team-season — for example "G2 Esports · 2024" or "Northern Gaming · S3 · 2017".
2. Take one card from that team to fill a slot (a player, the sub, the coach or the org), then move to the next slot.
3. Fill all six slots: 3 players, 1 sub, 1 coach, 1 org.
4. Some people can be drafted as either a Sub or a Coach (player-coaches) — you choose which role they fill.
5. Once every slot is filled, reveal your result and watch the tournament play out.

Rerolls

Don't like the team that spun up? Spend a reroll for a new one. How many you get depends on difficulty:

A reroll never hands you the exact same team-season twice in a row, and if a team genuinely can't fill your remaining slot, you get a free reroll so you're never stuck.

Score vs outcome

This is the most important thing to understand. Your roster has two separate numbers:

• Score (out of 99) — pure roster quality. It is deterministic: the same picks always produce the same score, every time. This is what the leaderboard ranks.
• Outcome — your placement, winning Worlds, a perfect sweep. This carries the run-to-run drama. A great roster usually wins, but there's variance, so a 95 can occasionally fall short and an 88 can occasionally pop off.

The score is a weighted average of your picks' ratings. In Standard mode the three players make up the bulk of it, with the coach and org as meaningful modifiers — so balance matters and you can't win on one superstar alone. For the full weighting and where ratings come from, see the Ratings page.

Collection Log

Win the World Championship with someone on your roster and you permanently collect their card. The binder has one page per RLCS season. Complete a full set — an entire season, an RLCS X region, or every card from a single organisation — to mint a one-of-a-kind MVP or Legend reward card. Shinies

Players occasionally spin up as a rare holographic "shiny" — a special version tied to an iconic career moment, with boosted ratings. Win Worlds with a shiny on your roster to collect it. The ✨ Shinies page is a grail wall of every shiny in the game for you to chase.

Game modes

• Standard — the classic six-slot draft described above.
• Gauntlet — draft six players across the 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 formats, plus a coach and an org. Players are rated per format, so you're hunting specialists, not all-rounders.
• Daily Showmatch — one fixed draft puzzle per day, identical for everyone. The same six teams, the same boss to beat. A quick, competitive way to compare with friends.

• ✨ Shiny — a rare holographic card.
• 📒 Collected — already in your Collection.
• ▲ In form — a temporary rating boost.
• 🚩 Suggest — propose a different rating for that card.
• Pro / Elite / Legend — card rarity tiers, by rating (under 80 / 80–89 / 90+).
